Essential Oils Hepatitis B and C

Simply put, their spirit is manifest in their authenticity. Antony F. Granucci

The Art Of Lesser Sundas

As we can see, essential oils, interact with many processes in the liver. Their induction and inhibition of Phase 1 and 11 detoxification enzymes is but one example. Traditional knowledge asserts that certain oils, most importantly Carrot Seed and Greenland Moss, do in some way support the regeneration of the liver.

L'aromatherapie exactement also reports that Thyme thuyanol specifically stimulates liver regeneration. As the activity of the essential oils with respect to liver health is clearly of the highest importance, a presentation Dr. Giraud-Robert gave the international Symposium of Aromatherapy and Medicinal Plants, Grasse, in March 2005 is summarized here.

Current Understanding Of Hepatitis B & C
The viruses responsible for chronic hepatitis are called hepatitis B, C, d, and G virus. Hepatitis is considered chronic when transaminase counts are elevated above twice their normal ranges for more then six months.

Hepatitis B especially C represent an increasing problem in Western societies. Of individuals with hepatitis C, 85 to 90 percent go on to develop chronic hepatitis, whereas for hepatitis B the number is 5 to 10 percent for immuno-competent carriers. For hepatitis C, the current allopathic treatment is therapy with interferon and ribavirin.

This leads to eradication of the virus in almost 85 percent of patients infected with geno type 2 or 3 and only 50 percent eradication in those with geno type

1. Negative side effects of these treatments are common. For Hepatitis B, allopathic treatments rely on interferon and nucleoside analogues such as lamivudine and adefovir. The objective of treatment is to render the virus non-infective rather than virus eradication.

The study that Dr, Giraud  Robert presented at the symposium reported on 60 patients who were chronic carriers of hepatitis B (10) 0r C (50). Essential oils such as Ravintsara, Greenland Moss, Carrot Seed, and Thyme thyuanol were used as a complement to allopathic treatment.

In patients with hepatitis C treated with interferon and essential oils, tolerance and response to treatment was improved (80) for genotype 10. For hepatitis C patients who were only treated with essential oils, a significant improvement was noted in 64 per cent of the cases.

For hepatitis B, two cures were obtained with essential oil treatment only.
